Maine Public on Maine’s shifting songbird species

Tim Flight

Maine Public recently published an article Maine’s shifting songbirds reflect a warming climate. We are seeing some of the same trends up here in Western Maine. Species like Canada Jay are declining in our area. Species historically found further south are increasingly being seen in Western Maine like Carolina Wren and Prairie Warbler. Last spring I photographed a Northern Mockingbird in Carrabassett and a fried there had a Red-bellied Woodpecker at their feeder.
